Gas prices in Coquitlam: separate neighbouring municipalities in the results

Coquitlam searches tend to return a blended Tri-Cities list, with Port Coquitlam and Port Moody stations mixed in. That’s handy for finding options and easy to misread. We don’t show live prices; this page helps you keep each station tied to its real address, understand why tax can’t explain a Coquitlam-versus-PoCo price gap, and decide whether the Costco pumps across the line are worth the trip.

What’s in the price at a Coquitlam pump

Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody are all Metro Vancouver members, so they share one fuel tax rate. As of November 2026 that’s the Vancouver-area B.C. motor fuel tax of 27.00¢ a litre on regular gasoline: 1.75¢ provincial general revenue, 6.75¢ for the BC Transportation Financing Authority and 18.50¢ for TransLink.

There’s no B.C. carbon tax any more (it ended 1 April 2025), and the 10¢ federal excise tax is suspended until 31 January 2027. GST at 5% applies to the whole price.

Because the tax is the same on both sides of the Coquitlam–Port Coquitlam boundary, a price gap between two Tri-Cities stations is about the station: its brand, its location, how recently someone reported it. That’s the reason to keep comparing carefully rather than assuming one city is the cheap one.

Where Coquitlam drivers usually fill up

Coquitlam is where two of the region’s big routes meet. Highway 1 reaches the city at the Lougheed Highway (Highway 7) and then crosses the Port Mann Bridge into Surrey. Lougheed itself runs from Burnaby through Coquitlam and across the Port Coquitlam line toward the Pitt River Bridge, with the Mary Hill Bypass (Highway 7B) as the riverside alternative.

So “on my way” depends heavily on direction. A station on Lougheed suits a trip toward Port Coquitlam or Maple Ridge; one near a Highway 1 ramp suits a trip over the Port Mann. Crossing between the two can add more kilometres than the map pin suggests.

Separate neighbouring municipalities in the results

For every Coquitlam candidate, check whether the address says Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam or Port Moody. They’re all useful, but they aren’t interchangeable labels. Keep the full street address on your shortlist so it still makes sense when you open directions or come back to it later. One Coquitlam result returned in search was a page combining Tri-Cities coverage, so its “Coquitlam” figures may include stations outside the city (checked 4 November 2026; recheck before relying on it).

Using GasBuddy Coquitlam results

  1. Expect GasBuddy Coquitlam searches to include stations just over the line in Port Coquitlam. That’s fine if they suit your route.
  2. Write the municipality and full address next to each price.
  3. Compare the same grade and report age.
  4. Count the extra distance for any station off your normal journey, especially if reaching it means changing between Lougheed and Highway 1.

Start on the official GasBuddy website for current reports and confirm the price at the pump before filling.

Coquitlam worked example: is the extra drive worth it?

This is an invented comparison to show the arithmetic, not a quoted Coquitlam price. Assume you will buy 45 litres and the alternative is 3 cents per litre cheaper.

ItemCalculationResult
Gross saving45 × 3/100C$1.35
Extra driving fuel cost10 extra km × 8 L/100 km ÷ 100 × C$1.60 per litreC$1.28
Net saving before time and other costsGross saving − extra fuelC$0.07

The 10 km round trip uses up 95% of the saving and leaves seven cents. That’s the usual story for a small gap across town: unless the cheaper station is already on your route, skip it. Try your own figures in the trip fuel cost calculator.

Where is the nearest Costco gas to Coquitlam?

The Tri-Cities Costco is in Port Coquitlam at 2370 Ottawa Street, and Costco’s page for it lists a gas station. Use the same comparison as any other stop: membership needed, same grade, real extra distance, and the likely wait. Our Costco gas price guide goes into more detail.

Will Coquitlam gas prices go up tomorrow?

Nobody can promise that, and we don’t forecast. What is known in advance is the tax calendar: Finance Canada says the federal excise tax would return at 5¢ a litre on 1 February 2027 and the full 10¢ on 1 April 2027. Those are dates when an increase is likely to show up regardless of what crude oil does.

Can I include Port Coquitlam stations?

Yes, if the route suits you. Label them accurately and count the extra travel rather than treating them as the same location.
