But is it worth the drive?
On a 40-litre fill, a 5¢ difference saves C$2.00. Add a 10 km detour, and much of that saving can disappear.

Common questions, straight answers.
Is this the GasBuddy website?
No. Fuel Route Guide is an independent guide and is not affiliated with GasBuddy. Whether you searched for GasBuddy, Gas Buddy, gasbudy or gas buddies, the official app and price search are at gasbuddy.com. We explain how to read those prices and work out whether a cheaper station is worth the drive.
Is the GasBuddy app free?
Yes, searching gas prices in the GasBuddy app is free. GasBuddy also sells optional paid memberships, GasBuddy+ Plus and Premium, that add fuel discounts and other perks. Check GasBuddy’s own site for current prices and terms, as they can change. Our GasBuddy app guide links to the official App Store and Google Play pages.
Is GasBuddy accurate?
GasBuddy prices are mostly reported by drivers, so each one is only as current as its last report. Check the time shown next to a price: a report from this morning is far more useful than one from yesterday. Busy roads and cities tend to update more often than quiet areas. Always confirm the price on the pump before you fill up.
Does GasBuddy work in Canada?
Yes. GasBuddy covers stations across Canada and the US. Canadian prices are shown in cents per litre and US prices in dollars per gallon, so convert both before comparing across the border. Start with our Canada gas prices guide or find your city.
Does GasBuddy show diesel prices?
Yes. You can choose the fuel type, including diesel, and compare stations for that product only. Diesel reports can be thinner than regular gas, so a station with no recent diesel price is a place to check, not proof that it has none.
How do I find cheap gas near me?
Set your exact location or postal code, pick the fuel grade you need, then compare three or four stations by price and report time. Count the extra driving too: a station 4¢ a litre cheaper but 8 km out of your way saves less than 40 cents on a 35-litre fill. Our gas prices near me guide walks through it.
How do I find the cheapest gas on my route?
Look for stations along the road you are already driving rather than the cheapest pin on the map. Our GasBuddy map guide shows how to compare route stops, and the free gas trip calculator estimates the fuel cost of the whole journey.
What day is gas cheapest?
There is no single day that is cheapest everywhere. Price patterns differ by city and change over time, so a fixed rule like “always fill up on Monday” can mislead. Compare the most recent station reports in your area before you buy, and don’t make a special trip to chase a few cents.
Is Costco gas cheaper?
It can be, but you need a membership, may wait in line and may drive further to get there. Multiply the price difference by the litres or gallons you will buy, then subtract the cost of the extra driving. Our Costco gas price guide shows the maths.
Why is GasBuddy not showing prices?
A station may have no recent report for your fuel type, or your location or filters may be set wrong. Check the location, clear filters you don’t need and try another grade. If the app itself is not loading, use GasBuddy’s own support pages; we can’t fix app or account issues.
When will gas prices go down?
Nobody can promise when pump prices will fall, and a forecast is not a price you can buy at. Watch recent station reports where you fill up, and use a GasBuddy heat map for the regional picture rather than for choosing a station.
