Gas prices in Langley: use the exact address within a broad search label

“Langley” covers two separate municipalities and a lot of ground, so a Langley price list drawn as a circle around downtown may have little to do with where you’ll actually drive. We don’t publish live prices. Instead, here’s how to read a Langley result by address, why Langley is the eastern edge of the higher Metro Vancouver fuel tax, and when that makes a fill further east worth it.

What’s in the price at a Langley pump

The City of Langley and the Township of Langley are both members of Metro Vancouver, and the province names Langley as the eastern limit of the TransLink fuel tax region: it runs east to and including Langley, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. Every Langley station, in either municipality, charges the Vancouver-area rate.

As of November 2026, on a litre of regular gasoline:

Where you buyB.C. motor fuel taxOf which TransLink
Langley (City or Township)27.00¢18.50¢
Abbotsford, next municipality east14.50¢none

Both pay no B.C. carbon tax (ended 1 April 2025), no federal excise tax while it’s suspended until 31 January 2027, and 5% GST. Since GST is charged on top of road taxes, the gap works out to about 13.1¢ a litre. Stations don’t have to pass it on, so check real prices on both sides.

The rule that counts is where the sale happens. Fuel bought in Abbotsford and burned in Langley doesn’t carry the TransLink tax.

Where Langley drivers usually fill up

  • Highway 1 runs through Langley, with the province’s program map showing interchanges at 202nd, 216th and 264th Street. It expects widening between 216th and 264th Street to finish in 2026, and work east of 264th to run to 2029.
  • Fraser Highway bisects the City of Langley, then heads through Murrayville and Aldergrove to Abbotsford.
  • Costco Langley at 20499 64 Avenue lists a gas station on Costco’s page, which is why “GasBuddy Langley Costco” is a common search. It’s members-only; our Costco gas price guide covers the trade-offs.

Use the exact address within a broad search label

One Langley price page returned in search defines its coverage as a radius around downtown rather than around any particular driver (checked 4 November 2026; recheck before relying on it). Fine for browsing, too vague for choosing. Keep each station’s full street address and check it against your actual trip. If an Aldergrove station fits, treat it as another candidate, not a second copy of the same list.

Using GasBuddy Langley results

  1. Start broad, then shortlist by street address. The search radius is a filter, not your driving distance.
  2. Note which side of Highway 1 each station is on. A station that looks close on the map can mean a long loop round to the next interchange.
  3. Compare the same grade and report time.
  4. If an Aldergrove or Abbotsford station shows up, count its extra distance before calling it cheaper. Abbotsford’s lower tax is real; the drive is too.

The official GasBuddy website has current reports. Trust the pump sign over the listing.

Langley worked example: is the extra drive worth it?

This is an invented comparison to show the arithmetic, not a quoted Langley price. Assume you will buy 50 litres and the alternative is 3 cents per litre cheaper.

ItemCalculationResult
Gross saving50 × 3/100C$1.50
Extra driving fuel cost12 extra km × 8 L/100 km ÷ 100 × C$1.60 per litreC$1.54
Net saving before time and other costsGross saving − extra fuel−C$0.04

Twelve extra kilometres wipes out a 3¢ saving entirely; you’d lose four cents and the time. A bigger gap changes things, which is exactly the Abbotsford question. Plug in your own fill and distance in the trip fuel cost calculator.

Is gas cheaper in Langley or Abbotsford?

Abbotsford has about 13¢ a litre less tax built in (GST included), so it often has room to be cheaper. If you’re driving east anyway, waiting to fill in Abbotsford can make sense. A dedicated round trip from western Langley rarely does unless the posted gap is large.

Do the City and Township of Langley have different gas taxes?

No. They’re separate municipalities, but both are in Metro Vancouver and both pay the same Vancouver-area rate. The tax only changes when you cross into Abbotsford.

Should I use the search radius as driving distance?

No. A radius is a geographic filter. Work out the actual extra road distance for the stop.
