Gas prices in Port Coquitlam: keep the municipality attached to each station

PoCo stations constantly turn up in Coquitlam searches and the other way round, and it’s easy to pin a cheap number on the wrong address. There are no live prices here. What you’ll get is a way to keep your shortlist straight, the facts about the Costco pumps on Ottawa Street, and a clear answer to a question Lougheed commuters ask: where does the higher Metro Vancouver fuel tax actually stop?

What’s in the price at a Port Coquitlam pump

Port Coquitlam is a Metro Vancouver member, so its stations charge the Vancouver-area motor fuel tax: 27.00¢ a litre on regular gasoline as of November 2026, including 18.50¢ for TransLink. Outside the TransLink region, the same tax is 14.50¢.

The other pieces, for completeness: no B.C. carbon tax since 1 April 2025; the federal excise tax is at zero until 31 January 2027 under a temporary suspension; and 5% GST sits on top.

Here’s the local twist. Heading east on the Lougheed Highway, you cross the Pitt River Bridge into Pitt Meadows, then Maple Ridge, then Mission. Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge are still in the TransLink area; the province lists them as its eastern edge. Mission belongs to the Fraser Valley Regional District, so Mission stations pay the lower rate. If your trip already goes that far, that’s useful to know. Driving there just for fuel almost never is.

Where Port Coquitlam drivers usually fill up

  • Lougheed Highway (Highway 7) is the main east–west route through the city. Esso, for example, lists a station at 2090 Lougheed Highway (checked 4 November 2026; recheck before relying on it).
  • Mary Hill Bypass (Highway 7B) links Port Coquitlam with Highway 1 at the Cape Horn interchange in Coquitlam. Stations along Lougheed aren’t always convenient from the bypass, so check which road the entrance is on.
  • Costco Port Coquitlam at 2370 Ottawa Street lists a gas station on Costco’s page. It’s the Costco that people mean when they search “Coquitlam Costco gas”.

Keep the municipality attached to each station

Port Coquitlam and Coquitlam results often appear together in wider searches. Keep each candidate’s actual municipality visible in your notes, along with the street address. That stops a cheaper number from one address being attached to a similar-sounding location when you compare tabs or share a list with someone.

Using GasBuddy Port Coquitlam results

  1. Write down the municipality and full address for every station before comparing. A Lougheed Highway address could be in Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam or further east.
  2. Compare the same grade and report time.
  3. For the Costco, only count it if you’re a member, and add the queue to your time cost.
  4. A Coquitlam average is context, not a quote for a specific PoCo pump.

Current reports are on the official GasBuddy website; the pump is the final word.

Port Coquitlam worked example: is the extra drive worth it?

This is an invented comparison to show the arithmetic, not a quoted Port Coquitlam price. Assume you will buy 40 litres and the alternative is 5 cents per litre cheaper.

ItemCalculationResult
Gross saving40 × 5/100C$2.00
Extra driving fuel cost8 extra km × 8 L/100 km ÷ 100 × C$1.60 per litreC$1.02
Net saving before time and other costsGross saving − extra fuelC$0.98

The detour uses 51% of the C$2.00 saving and leaves 98 cents before your time and any wait at the pumps. Worth it only if the stop is close to your route. Run your own version in the trip fuel cost calculator.

Is gas cheaper once I leave Metro Vancouver on Lougheed?

The tax is lower once you reach Mission, by 12.5¢ a litre before GST. Whether Mission pumps are actually cheaper on a given day is up to the stations, so check current reports. Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge pay the same tax as PoCo.

Is the Tri-Cities Costco in Coquitlam or Port Coquitlam?

Port Coquitlam. Costco lists the warehouse at 2370 Ottawa Street, Port Coquitlam, with a gas station. Our Costco gas price guide explains how to compare it fairly.

Can I reuse Coquitlam’s city average for this station?

An average gives you context, but it isn’t a verified quote for any particular Port Coquitlam pump.
