Gas prices in London, Ontario: resolve London before comparing prices

Type “gas prices London” into almost anything and you’ll get England first: pounds, not dollars, and a different market entirely. Add “Ontario” (or a London postal code) and you’re in the right place. From there, the useful question is which side of the city you’re on, because London is spread out enough that a cheap station across town rarely pays for the drive.

Resolve London before comparing prices

Always enter London, Ontario explicitly when you start a lookup. Some comparison sites make this easy; FuelFi’s London page, for example, labels itself as London, Ontario, Canada (FuelFi London, checked 4 November 2026; recheck before relying on it). Once you’re sure the prices are Canadian cents per litre at Ontario addresses, compare the same grade and report age rather than trusting a generic “London” heading.

What’s in the price at a London pump

London stations all pay the same taxes, so taxes can’t make one London station cheaper than another. As of November 2026 the main pieces are:

  • Provincial: 9.0¢ a litre Ontario gasoline tax on unleaded, already inside the posted price (Ontario Ministry of Finance).
  • Federal excise: zero for now. Bill C-38 extended the suspension to 31 January 2027; the tax is 5¢ a litre from 1 February to 31 March 2027 and 10¢ from 1 April 2027 (Finance Canada).
  • HST: 13% (CRA), charged on the price including those per-litre taxes (NRCan).
  • Carbon charge: none; the consumer fuel charge was removed on 1 April 2025 (Finance Canada).

Keep the 2027 dates in mind if you track your spending: a jump in February or April 2027 will partly be tax, not a London price war.

Where London drivers usually fill up

Costco is a big part of London’s fuel searches (“gas prices London Ontario Costco” is a frequent search suggestion), and London has two Costco warehouses that list gas stations:

The south warehouse opened on Dingman Drive in March 2023, replacing the old store across the street at 4131 Wellington Rd S, and that’s when the south location gained a gas station (Global News). If an old map pin or review still points you to Wellington Road, it’s out of date.

Both are members-only. Pick the one on your side of the city; crossing London just for Costco fuel rarely pays for itself. Our Costco gas guide explains membership and payment rules.

Using GasBuddy London Ontario results

  1. Search “GasBuddy London Ontario” or use a London postal code. “GasBuddy London” alone can bring in England.
  2. Centre the map on your part of the city. North-end drivers should compare north-end stations first, and the same in the south.
  3. Match the grade and check report times. People often search by brand (Pioneer, Petro-Canada) or ask for “near me today”; either way, a fresh report beats an old low one.
  4. Count both legs of any detour, and confirm at the pump. For current reports, start on the official GasBuddy website.

London worked example: is the extra drive worth it?

This is a hypothetical comparison, not a quoted London, Ontario price. You’ll buy 35 litres, and a station on the other side of your neighbourhood is 7 cents per litre cheaper, adding 6 km of driving.

ItemCalculationResult
Gross saving35 × 7/100C$2.45
Extra driving fuel cost6 extra km × 8 L/100 km ÷ 100 × C$1.60 per litreC$0.77
Net saving before time and other costsGross saving − extra fuelC$1.68

The extra driving takes about 31% of the saving and you keep C$1.68. Now imagine the same 7¢ gap but the station is across the city, 20 km round trip: the fuel alone would cost about C$2.56 (20 × 8 ÷ 100 × C$1.60), more than the whole saving. Try your own numbers in the trip fuel cost calculator.

Will gas prices in London, Ontario go up tomorrow?

We can’t predict that. Gas Wizard lists London among the cities it publishes next-day forecasts for (Gas Wizard). Its forecasts are based on wholesale price analysis by Dan McTeague of Canadians for Affordable Energy (about), and stations don’t always follow them.

Does “GasBuddy London” need a separate page?

No. It’s the same London once you’ve told the search which country you mean, so this guide covers it.
