Gas prices in Brampton: compare a normal commute with a dedicated detour

Looking for the cheapest gas in Brampton today? We don’t show live prices, but we can show you how to judge the ones you find. In Brampton the same 5-cent gap can be a good deal or a waste of money depending on one thing: whether the station is on a drive you’re already making, or whether you’re driving there just to fill up.

What’s in the price at a Brampton pump

The tax part of a Brampton pump price is identical at every station in the city, and across Ontario. As of November 2026:

  • Ontario charges 9.0¢ per litre gasoline tax on unleaded, collected at the wholesale level and folded into the posted price (Ontario Ministry of Finance).
  • The federal excise tax is suspended until 31 January 2027, then charged at 5¢ per litre until 31 March 2027, and back to 10¢ from 1 April 2027 (Finance Canada, Bill C-38).
  • 13% HST (CRA) is applied to the whole price, including the per-litre taxes (Natural Resources Canada).
  • There’s no consumer carbon charge any more; it ended on 1 April 2025 (Finance Canada).

So when two Brampton stations differ, it’s down to the retailer, the location and timing, not tax. Watch early 2027, though: the excise tax returning in two steps will push every station up together.

Where Brampton drivers usually fill up

Plenty of Brampton driving runs along Highway 410 or crosses the 407 ETR, and the 407 is the one to watch. The 407 ETR charges tolls by zone and vehicle class, and without a transponder your plate is photographed and billed to you (407 ETR rates). If a “cheap” station means hopping on the 407 for a couple of exits, the toll can easily be bigger than the few dollars you save on fuel; the 407 ETR site has a trip calculator if you want to check. Leave tolled roads out of fuel-only trips.

A common surprise: Costco’s Brampton warehouse at 100 Biscayne Cres doesn’t list a gas station among its services (Costco Brampton), even though “GasBuddy Brampton Costco” is a popular search. If you have a membership, Costco does list gas stations at two Mississauga warehouses, 5900 Rodeo Dr and 1570 Dundas St E (N Mississauga, C Mississauga). Check the rules in our Costco gas guide.

Compare a normal commute with a dedicated detour

Work out two cases if you’re undecided. In the first, you buy fuel on a trip you’re making anyway, so the extra distance is the small deviation into and out of the station. In the second, you drive somewhere just to fill up, so you count the whole drive there and back. Don’t use the one-way map distance for both; it flatters the fuel-only trip and slightly overstates the commute stop.

Using GasBuddy Brampton results

  • Sort your candidates into two groups: stations on routes you already drive (to work, school, the GO station) and stations that would need a separate trip.
  • Check report times. Brampton comparison pages show individual reports with times and addresses, which makes it easy to spot a stale low price (example listing, checked 4 November 2026; recheck before relying on it). An old low price that needs a dedicated trip is the weakest option on the list.
  • Match the grade and payment. Some displayed prices assume cash, a loyalty program or a membership.
  • Count tolls as a cost, not just fuel.
  • Confirm the number at the pump. For current reports, start on the official GasBuddy website.

Brampton worked example: commute stop or fuel-only trip?

This is a hypothetical comparison, not a quoted Brampton price. You’ll buy 40 litres, the cheaper station is 5 cents per litre lower, your car uses 8 L/100 km and fuel costs C$1.60 per litre.

ItemCalculationResult
Gross saving (both cases)40 × 5/100C$2.00
Case A: on your commute, 1 extra km1 × 8 ÷ 100 × C$1.60C$0.13
Case A net savingC$2.00 − C$0.13C$1.87
Case B: fuel-only trip, 8 km there and back8 × 8 ÷ 100 × C$1.60C$1.02
Case B net savingC$2.00 − C$1.02C$0.98

The same price gap is worth almost twice as much when the station sits on your commute. Put a 407 ETR toll into Case B and the C$0.98 can vanish completely. Try your own numbers in the trip fuel cost calculator.

Will Brampton gas prices go up or down tomorrow?

Nobody can tell you for certain. If you want a guess, Gas Wizard lists Brampton among its next-day forecast cities (Gas Wizard predictions) and bases them on Dan McTeague’s wholesale price forecasting for Canadians for Affordable Energy (about Gas Wizard). It’s a forecast, so individual stations may move differently.

Should I include the drive back after a fuel-only trip?

Yes. The extra distance is everything the decision adds, so count the return leg too.
